The Right Rod for the Job

Stainless Steel

308L, 309L or 316L?

The numbers may look similar, but each electrode is made for a different job. Match the filler metal to the stainless grade and application before you strike an arc.

E308L-17 — A go-to choice for compatible 304L and 18/8 stainless steel.

E309L-17 — A versatile option for stainless fabrication and joining stainless to carbon steel.

E316L-17 — Built for compatible 316L applications where added corrosion resistance matters.

Cast Iron Repair

Ni-99 or Ni-55?

Both are nickel-based Stick electrodes for cast iron, but the right choice depends on what the finished repair needs to do.

Ni-99 — High-nickel electrode designed for maximum machinability. A strong option when the finished weld may need to be drilled, tapped, milled, or shaped.

Ni-55 — Nickel-iron electrode built for strong, ductile, machinable repairs with lower weld shrinkage stress.
