A little while back we posted a brief article on TIG welding aluminum<\/a>. \u00a0That article garnered the attention of the folks over at The Fabricator<\/em>, and their sister publication Practical Welding Today<\/em>\u00a0who asked if we would like to expand on that and write a more comprehensive article on TIG welding aluminum. \u00a0We took them up on the offer, and the article will be published in the March\/April issue of Practical Welding Today<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In our research we discovered that not only is aluminum one of the most abundant elements, it’s especially popular right now for a variety of reasons including the fact that it is utilized in so many industries because it’s lightweight and strong. \u00a0In fact, along with their 4th quarter earnings report\u00a0\u00a0Alcoa, the world’s leading aluminum producer<\/a>, forecast \u00a0a 7% growth in demand for 2013.<\/p>\n

Now we’re not going to give away all the details on our article, but here’s a sneak peek at some of the photos we included:<\/p>\n

The article covers everything from prepping your base metal, setting up your welding machine, tungsten–selection and preparation, and welding gas. \u00a0Most of all, remember that welding aluminum may be challenging, but that’s what makes it fun. \u00a0Start by practicing on flat coupons, and as you get your beads consistent, move up to lap, but, and t-joints to master your torch and puddle control… \u00a0and most of all Enjoy!<\/p>\n
